Actually he’s feeling no negative effects because the conviction isn’t finalized. You don’t lose rights until it’s a final conviction, which means it has to survive the appeals process. This is why many employers and creditors explicitly list “pending charges” on their applications since you’re not considered a “convicted felon” on appeal.

That said, he was a former President so even if he is finally convicted he’ll still have massive privilege, you’re certainly right about that part. All former Presidents do.
